Taryn Bushey is a great fit for Dunrovin Ranch because she has an insatiable interest in horses – an interest that started with her very first baby steps. She comes from a family steeped in horses and her equine passion is clearly a genetic gift from her mother. Dunrovin is capitalizing on Taryn’s all consuming interest by having her head up our Horsemanship Program, both on-site at Dunrovin Ranch and on-line in front of our web cameras to the delight of our www.DaysAtDunrovin.com cyber ranch community members. You will find Taryn busy creating new horsemanship programs that emphasize safety, responsibility, fun, and adventure. She is a sponge for new information and loves bringing others along while she learns.
Recently Taryn has partnered with long time cattleman, horse trainer, and Dunrovin Friend, Brandon Carpenter of Hashknike Horses, to take a horse for the first time from the ground up. Mystery, a four year old Tennessee Walking Horse, recently joined the Dunrovin herd. He has yet to be ridden; yet, Brandon has all the confidence in the world that with his coaching, Taryn will do a great job of building a foundation of trust and partnership with Mystery to bring him to his full potential as a guest horse for Dunrovin. It is a journey for both of them that you are welcome to follow on our cyber ranch.
Taryn has a special interest in the sport of dressage. Dressage, which is a French term most commonly translated to mean “training”, is a highly skilled form of riding performed in exhibition and competition, and is often considered an “art” pursued solely for the sake of mastery. Dressage has recently entered the western world of riding as people began to understand its many benefits for both horse and rider. Tary began her dressage career at an 18 year old and after many years of looking has purchased the ideal horse to serve as her dressage partner. “Light My Heart”, or Lux for short, is a magnificent thoroughbred that Taryn found off the race track at Emerald Downs in the Seattle area. He is the perfect fit to satisfy not only Taryn dressage interests, but also her desire to branch out into the eventing world – a sport that requires horses and riders to display their skills and partnership in a three day event the includes dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country. We look forward to watching Taryn grow in this endeavor.
