Annie
Birth date: April 21, 1991
The herd matriarch, the first horse SuzAnne ever purchased, and mother of Lady Lonza, Annie unfortunately became lame from an accident many years ago just months after SuzAnne bought her. She was boarded at the ranch owned by the person who sold her to SuzAnne. At that ranch, Annie lived in a beautiful large pasture along the Clark Fork River with several other horses. One spring day, a very violent thunder storm rolled through the valley dropping hail stones the size of baseballs. Considerable damage was done throughout the area. We do not know exactly what happened. SuzAnne went out later on that same day to see how Annie has fared the storm only to find her limping on her right front leg. Three unsuccessful surgeries later, it was clear that Annie would never again carry a rider. What a shame – she was a pistol and a perfect horse for endurance racing, which was SuzAnne’s passion at that time. She was tough, strong, competitive, and totally determined.
When SuzAnne had purchased her, she had a beautiful yearling at her side – so SuzAnne decided to breed her back to the same stallion that had produced that gorgeous champagne colt. Sure enough, eleven months later, Annie gave birth to the Lovely Lady Lonza.
Annie is still as feisty as ever with all the geldings, but a total sweetheart with people. She had taught kids of all ages to lead horses, allowed people from all over the world to express them selves through painting her with nontoxic paints, and has served as a therapeutic horse for a psychotherapist. She is much loved and will live out her life at Dunrovin.
