Romeo
Birth Date: March 13, 2001
SuzAnne frequently changes the nickname for a new horse if the original ones doesn’t sit right with her. Such was the case for Romeo. Yahwehs Sterling Legacy is his given name on his registration with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeder’s and Exhibitors Association. She knew she had to do something with that, but what? She had no idea what Yahwehs was or meant; and she couldn’t use Sterling since her husband already occupied that name in her mind and heart. As luck would have it, one of Dunrovin’s regular local riders, Juliette, was at the ranch when SuzAnne drove up and unloaded him for the first time. SuzAnne no sooner started talking with Juliette about the naming dilemma, when Juliette excitedly suggested Romeo – naturally! So Romeo it is.
Romeo likes to move. He squirms at the mounting block. He paws in the trailers. He has little to no patience. He drives the other horses crazy when they are on a high line for the night in Montana’s back country, as he twirls around in circles and gets tangled up with his neighbor. He can pin his ears and threaten other herd members on the rail. He can be something of a bully. Juliette’s pick for a name probably does not meet with much approval from the rest of the herd.
However, for a rider, Romeo’s desire to move can be pure heaven. He has a wonderful smooth, fast, even running walk that really covers ground. Sitting his canter is like sitting on a rocking horse. He is strong and sure footed and eager to go. He also has a very sweet side and he easily bonds with a person who takes a little time to get to know him. He really seems to sense when a rider appreciates him and he will give it is all. Many of Dunrovin guests have returned from a mountain ride on Romeo asking if they could purchase him and take him home.
