Spring and Fall Pony Club

There’s no separating kids and ponies! During the school year in both the spring and autumn, Dunrovin offers a six week pony club for kids who really want to learn about how to ride and care for a pony or a horse.
The program stresses safety, responsibility, and independence. Each weekly session is for one and one half hours (1.5 hours). Our ponies partner with the preschoolers and one of our gentle Tennessee Walking Horses is matched with the grade schoolers. All activities are conducted out-of-doors, so please make sure that your young riders come prepared wearing close toed shoes, long pants, and coats and gloves appropriate for the weather. Enrollment is limited to four students per session.
Both spring and fall weather can be unpredictable and Dunrovin believes in the Montana saying that "there is no such things as bad weather, just bad clothes!" Dunrovin does not offer make-up sessions and will not cancel because of weather. In the event instructors need to interrupt lessons for safety concerns, i.e. lightning, thunderstorms, etc., an appropriate horse-themed educational experience will be substituted.

Spring and Fall Youth Apprenticeship Program

Dunrovin is excited to offer a youth apprenticeship program for ages 13 to 17 years old. We are looking for future summer ranch employees and this is where we hope to find them! The program is progressive. Students demonstrating strong work ethics, commitment, and competence will be invited to participate as ranch assistants for summer ranch camps or after school pony programs. Dunrovin Ranch has hired successful students as paid ranch hands for the summer and after school.
The program emphasizes safety around horses, horse management and care, beginning to advanced riding skills, and work ethics and responsibilities. Each weekly session is for 2 hours. The time will be split between learning to halter, groom and saddle a horse, various riding skills from opening and closing gates to cantering, caring for and feeding the horses, and basic horsemanship training and handling skills essential be becoming a ranch hand.
This program is for older kids who are more serious about learning how to ride, learning the responsibilities of horse ownership, and grooming themselves for working with Dunrovin in the future. All activities are conducted out of doors and in a group setting. Enrollment is limited to six participants.
Both spring and fall weather can be unpredictable and Dunrovin believes in the Montana saying that "there is no such things as bad weather, just bad clothes!"
