Jennifer Griffith
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer was born in Florida, raised in Kansas City, MO, received her BA in wildlife Biology in Maine, and received her BFA in art and teaching degree in Montana. With several jobs under her belt from Sales and marketing at a hotel, to French restaurant owner, to currently K-8 art and French teacher, creating and making art has never changed. Her medium of choice is batik (a wax resist dye process) but she has recently been enjoying animal and human charcoal drawings. “Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain one once you grow up.” -Pablo Picasso. She makes sure to remain an artist, the growing up part is the one she has a problem with.
CONCEPT STATEMENT
This final piece was an evolution of finding the balance between beauty, conservation, and the spirit world. Having just received certification as a National Geographic educator, and believing in the power and beauty of our natural world, the choice of blue butterflies as spiritual connection to other realms fluttered into my heart. I make art to speak, art is a language. I am blessed to be able to communicate through visual representation and give others the opportunity to communicate through their own interpretations.
